*The World Diabetes Day is November 14th and each year Stanford Health Care organizes a Wellness Fair to spread awareness about diabetes, associated risks and available options for care. This year, at the 6th such Wellness Fair held in the atrium of the Stanford Hospital, several informational booths were set up – Nutritional, Pharmacy, Community Outreach, Diabetes Research Center, random blood glucose and blood pressure measurements. Over 500 individuals were screened for blood glucose and over 100 individuals were provided their blood pressure reading. The nutritional table was visited by over 300 individuals while the pharmacy table tested over 400 people for their know-how of diabetes with basic questions. A raffle was held and one lucky winner received a Fitbit. We thank our corporate and non-profit partners who supported this effort and were present to share information on diabetes with our patient community. Stanford Diabetes Research Center staff spread awareness of various ongoing studies and facilitated recruitment of interested participants in relevant studies and trials.
